Just in time for Christmas we received the news from our Japanese distributor that our HRS-130 loudspeakers had received a Grand Prix award from the Japanese high-end audio magazine Stereo Sound. This is the most influential high-end audio magazine in Japan and the Grand Prix is their most prestigious award. Only about 30 products are chosen each year from a field of 300 to 400 products. Selection is made on the basis of the excellence of the product, rather than it being the best in its particular category. This year there was some fairly worthy competition, so we are quite pleased to have been selected for this honour. This award is also very useful piece of publicity, as every high-end audio dealer in the country reads Stereo Sound, as do a great many potential customers. The quotes below from Stereo Sound’s reviewers show why they rated the HRS-130 so highly. “We knew the DDD driver was great, but the HRS-130 also has an exceptional low frequency range. The emotion generated by the DDD driver's appealing sound is such that, once you've been seduced by this sound, you'll have no choice but to buy this loudspeaker. It is that unique.” Wada Hiromi “This loudspeaker has a unique live sound. Even EDM recordings, which are not supposed to have a live-sound like stereo image, give the impression of a live performance stage.” Fu Nobuki “With the carbon fibre DDD driver, the sound is even more solid and direct. Even though the HRS-130 is omnidirectional, there is no vagueness. Our special thanks go to Mr. Iori of Taktstock, our new Japanese distributor. He officially took over the distribution of German Physiks in Japan in June of this year and to say that he hit the ground running would be an understatement. He has been very active demonstrating German Physiks loudspeakers to audio dealers, at audio shows, to audio magazines and to audio reviewers. He surprised us by making three sales on his first road trip at the start of July: two sets of HRS-130s to dealers for their demonstration rooms and one set of Carbon Mk IVs to an end user. Mr. Iori is one of our hardest working distributors. He will still be working on Christmas eve, when he is due to deliver a set of HRS-130s to Sound Create, a very nicely appointed audio dealer in Tokyo’s upmarket Ginza district. In a break with Christmas tradition, he will be delivering these through their front door, rather than down their chimney. If only we could clone him and have the clones set up distribution companies around the world, our lives would be so much easier.
