German Physiks loudspeakers are a nominal 4 ohm load, so any tube power amplifier used should have a 4 ohm tap on its output transformer. Without this, the low end is likely to sound soft. Another way of using our loudspeakers with tubes that we have seen on a number of occasions in the Far East, is to use a solid-sate amplifier on the woofers and tubes on the DDD drivers. This way, the bottom end has the control and power that only a solid-state amplifier can deliver, while the DDD drivers provide the smoothness that a tube amplifier is best able to deliver.
